  • Atheta (Dalotia coriaria) -  Commonly referred to as "Rove Beetles" or "Tanks".
Biological Control of Fungus Gnats, Shore Flies & Thrips Pupae – Koppert Biological Systems

Atheta is a highly mobile soil-dwelling predatory beetle used to control soil-stage pests such as fungus gnats (Bradysia spp.), shore flies, and thrips pupae. The active agent, Dalotia coriaria (formerly Atheta coriaria), is known for its aggressive hunting behavior and adaptability to a wide range of environments.

These rove beetles are most active in the top layer of soil or growing media, where they prey on pest larvae and pupae. Atheta establishes quickly and provides consistent, long-term suppression, making it a go-to option for growers using living soils, coco, peat, or rockwool systems.
